Case Example of Installation in Resin Ejection Molding Plant

Objective
To propose an idea of energy-saving environmental improvement of a "main passage" in a "resin ejection molding plant" under the harsh environment during summer.
Background
  • Continuous occurrence of severely hot days with the maximum exterior temperature of "35 degrees" or higher during summer.
  • Within the resin ejection molding plant, highly severe condition of "5 to 10 degrees" higher than the exterior air temperature are observed. (Max. 45 degrees)
  • Although within the plant the roof fans for ventilation (exhaust) are installed at present, no equipment for the induction of the heat generated by the heat source to the roof fan are applied. This results in the heat stagnation within the plant.
  • The lack of air current (airflow) within the plant leads to the rise of the sensible temperature.
    Furthermore, lots of molding machines are expected to be the heat generating element and thus the heat stagnation occurs around the lines of the ejection molding machines.

  1. To reduce the temperature in the hot working area of large space lower than that of the exterior air, the exclusive air-conditioning installations will be necessary. These installations will cost a considerable amount of money and are not practical.
    They will also need a large amount of electricity. (Quite a few quantity of CO2 emission is predicted.)
  2. Instead of installing air conditioners, "Energy-saving type Cooling device that utilizes the heat radiation from water vaporization" which is comparatively cheap is applied. This induces a large quantity of fresh exterior air, produces the cooler air (4 to 9 degrees cooler) than the exterior air and sends it into the hot working area.
  3. The center, "main passage" with the huge flow of "people (workers)" in the plant is also located nearby the heat source of the molding machines. Therefore we set this main passage as "the stagnation of the fresh and cool air", and thus clearly emphasize the environmental improvement.
  4. In order to produce the airflow (reduction in the sensible temperature) by duct-less design and to induce the waste heat, we applicate high-efficient "Induced Draft SF Fan" (aluminum-founded) with the maximum induction rate "20 times".
